The new BMW 8 Series Coupé and new BMW 8 Series Gran Coupé.

The new edition of the BMW 8 Series provides a particularly emotional boost in the luxury performance segment. Customers in Singapore enjoy two individual vehicle characters to choose from, each of them offering its own distinctive interpretation of this fascinating combination of sporty flair and luxury. The BMW 8 Series Coupé embodies the classic two-door body shape, so it stands firmly in the tradition of the brand’s legendary sports cars, blending elegant lines with dynamic driving characteristics. The BMW 8 Series Gran Coupé occupies an exceptional position in the luxury segment as a four-door model with an exceptionally high level of seating comfort in the rear for a sports car. Both Coupé and Gran Coupé models are offered with a 3.0 litre in-line 6-cylinder petrol engine with rear-wheel drive, paired with an eight-speed Steptronic Sport transmission.

The BMW 8 Series Coupé comes over as a low-slung vehicle with an elongated silhouette and a roof line that flows elegantly into the powerful rear. A widely flared shoulder section and wide track widths signal the dynamic driving potential of the two-door model. Its roof features a central indentation reminiscent of the double curvature known as the “double bubble” in classic racing cars.

In addition to its distinctive proportions, the exterior design of the BMW 8 Series Gran Coupé also features characteristically designed side sections and rear. In addition, the four-door model has a wheelbase that is 201 millimetres longer than that of the BMW 8 Series Coupé at 3,023 millimetres.

Both models in the BMW 8 Series range have BMW Laserlight as a standard feature. On the grille, the brand’s signature cooling air intake features redesigned kidney bars with a distinctive U-profile. The M Sport package comes equipped as standard as well – aerodynamically optimised body features are finished in body colour in the front and rear apron as well as on the side skirts. The large lower air intakes at the front are structured by horizontal struts, and the diffuser insert in the rear apron is finished in Dark Shadow metallic. The sporty appearance is rounded off with 20-inch M light alloy wheels in double-spoke bi-colour design. In addition, the standard equipment includes an M Sport brake system with calipers finished in blue.

In designing the interior of the BMW 8 Series models, a unique balance was achieved between driver-oriented dynamic performance and exclusive elegance. Every entrance into the cabin is made an occasion with the soft-close function for the doors. On the BMW Series Gran Coupé, roller sunblinds for the windows can also be activated to ensure the utmost in privacy. Upon entering the cabin, the driver’s eyes are immediately drawn to the Crafted Clarity glass elements on the start button and BMW Controller. In an additional flourish, the gearshift lever features an illuminated ‘8’. Other interior highlights include a Harman Kardon surround sound system and Individual Merino leather upholstery as standard.

The BMW Live Cockpit Professional with Operating System 7.0 provides a fully digital display network, consisting of a 12.3-inch instrument cluster behind the steering wheel and a Control Display whose screen diagonal has increased in size from 10.25 to 12.3 inches. The touch function of the amply-sized on-board monitor enables particularly fast, convenient and intuitive operation of numerous vehicle functions. Highlights of the BMW Live Cockpit Professional system include the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant, BMW Maps, BMW Head-Up Display, wireless smartphone integration via wireless LAN, and a multimedia system. In addition, the standard equipment including telephony with wireless charging, the BMW Display Key and comfort access underscores both the luxurious and progressive character of the new BMW 8 Series models.

The new BMW 8 Series range features Driving Assistant Professional as standard, including Active Cruise Control with Stop & Go function, traffic light recognition, automatic Speed Limit Assist, as well as steering and lane guidance assistance. The Parking Assistant Plus also comes as standard, including a 360-degree Surround View system, Remote 3D View, Reversing Assistant, Active Park Distance Control, and Lateral Parking Aid.

The new BMW X7.

With its inimitable combination of exclusivity, dynamic excellence, luxuriant spaciousness and versatility, the BMW X7 has quickly developed into the most successful BMW model in the luxury class. The largest BMW X model convinces with both on-the-road elegance and off-road ability. The newly structured front end picks up on signature BMW design cues such as the twin headlights and BMW kidney grille. At the rear, the progressive style of the extremely slim light units come with three-dimensional sculpting. The elegant chrome bar connecting the rear lights on the new BMW X7 is enclosed within an exquisite glass cover.

Split headlights make their debut on the new BMW X7 – the horizontal LED light elements set higher up in the front end house the position light, daytime driving lights, and turn signal indicators. The LED units located below them for the low-beam and high-beam headlights give the impression of retreating into the background with their dark housing and deeply embedded position in the front apron, and only come to the fore when activated. The new adaptive matrix LED headlights with non-dazzling high beam and adaptive light distribution also provide the functionality of front fog lights with their automatic bad weather light.

The generous feeling of space on board the new BMW X7 can be enjoyed across three rows of seats. Together, the newly designed instrument panel – with its slim air vents and an ambient light bar included as standard in its lower section – and the BMW Curved Display with Operating System 8, bring a modern style shaped by progressive digitalisation to the cockpit. The innovative light bar complements the likewise standard ambient light. Its effective backlighting – with the help of LED units and a graphic including “X7″ lettering – is an integral element of the situation-based light effects and enhances the aura of exclusivity inside the cabin. The gear selector lever is also given a new and cutting-edge design, and is encased in glass thanks to the Crafted Clarity feature.

The BMW X7 is specified a wealth of features as standard, including the five-zone automatic climate control, panoramic glass sunroof with aluminium satinated roof rails, a Harman Kardon surround sound system, comfort seats for the driver and front passenger with active seat ventilation and massage function, a Sport leather steering wheel with gearshift paddles, and a new tray for wirelessly charging compatible mobile phones.

The BMW X7 in Singapore is offered with a latest-generation six-cylinder in-line engine as the BMW X7 xDrive40i. It boasts a wealth of innovations for the combustion process, gas exchange, valve control, injection and ignition system that enhance both performance and efficiency. The output of the new engine is 48 hp up on the predecessor unit at 381 hp, while peak torque rises by 90 Nm to 540Nm thanks in part to a 48V mild hybrid system.

This form of electrification consists of a crankshaft-mounted starter generator integrated into the transmission and contributes an extra 9 kW/12 hp of output and an extra 200 Nm of torque. The engine partners an 8-speed Steptronic Sport transmission including shift paddles on the steering wheel and a Sprint function. Engine power is channelled to the road – or unsurfaced terrain, if required – via the intelligent all-wheel-drive system BMW xDrive through 21” light-alloy wheels. The adaptive two-axle air suspension teams up as standard with electronically controlled dampers to deliver signature BMW dynamic prowess combined with excellent comfort on long journeys.

Safety is at the forefront of the new BMW X7, with the Driving Assistant Professional and Parking Assistant Professional packages fitted as standard. The front-collision warning system reduces the danger of a collision with cyclists, pedestrians or oncoming vehicles when turning. The exit warning function alerts occupants to a risk of collision when opening the door. The Reversing Assistant has also been updated to take over the job of steering the car for a distance of up to 200 metres.

The BMW X7 is available in Singapore in two trims – the BMW X7 xDrive40i and the BMW X7 xDrive40i M Sport. The latter trim includes M roof rails in high-gloss Shadowline, M Aerodynamics package (including aedrodynamic front and rear aprons as well as side sill covers in body colour, an M headliner in Alcantara anthracite, and an M leather steering wheel), 22” M light-alloy wheels in double-spoke bi-colour style, and M Sport brakes.
