SINGAPORE, 9 January 2020 – Eurokars Group has unveiled the all-new CX-30 crossover, the latest addition to the 7th generation lineup of Mazda cars at the Singapore Motorshow 2020 which is being held at Suntec Convention Centre. Furthermore, the all-new Mazda CX-8 is also on display at the Mazda stand.
The all-new Mazda CX-30 and Mazda CX-8 – star highlights at the exhibition – are a showcase of the sophisticated styling and exhilarating driving experience that are aligned with Mazda’s objectives of expanding the powertrain lineup to complement its customers’ diversified lifestyles. Mazda strives to continuously enhance the safety, performance and interior quality of its next generation SUVs so as to evoke a sense of warm welcome and assurance for all the car occupants.
The Mazda CX-30 that is available for sale in Singapore is powered by the latest SKYACTIV-G 2.0 litre gasoline engine which adopts optimised intake ports and piston shape; split fuel injection; a coolant control valve to deliver higher levels of dynamic performance, as well as fuel economy and environmental friendliness.
It is the second model in Mazda’s new-generation product lineup to feature the evolved and matured KODO – Soul of Motion design language that explores the essence of Japanese aesthetics. The Mazda CX-30 was developed in pursuit of automotive styling as a work of art with a “Sleek and Bold” design concept. Mazda designers and engineers worked together to satisfy the generally contradictory demands for roominess, ample cargo space, and truly beautiful proportions, and at the same time, achieve the most alluring and sleek silhouette in the market.
The Mazda CX-30 was designed to stimulate new discoveries within the drivers’ daily routine that match their sensibilities and turn their run-of-the-mill activities into self-directed and creative lifestyles. Mazda believes that an effortless and joyful driving experience is a vital factor, and “Ultimate Jinba-ittai” – the sensation that the vehicle is an extension of the driver’s body and can be precisely controlled without conscious thought — is Mazda’s goal.
The Mazda CX-30 is available in eight exterior body colour options. These include the Soul Red Crystal, Machine Gray, and Polymetal Gray (which was first seen on the all-new Mazda3 in 2019), along with Snowflake White Pearl Mica, Titanium Flash Mica, Jet Black Mica, Deep Crystal Blue Mica and Sonic Silver Metallic.
The exterior design of Mazda CX-30 simultaneously realises two contradictory elements: the flowing beauty of a coupe and the bold toughness of an SUV. The design language for Mazda CX-30 was “Charge and Release”. This language was derived from the brushwork used in Japanese calligraphy and developed to integrate the three key factors of the evolved KODO design theme, namely Yohaku – the beauty of empty space; Sori – curves with poise and balance, and Utsuroi – the play of light and shade. In particular, Sori is clearly embodied in the arc of the shoulder running from the front fender to the rear wheel, conveying a sense of speed and vitality. Body surfaces beneath the shoulder line reflect the surroundings in an S shape that changes as the car moves, in a fascinating statement of Utsuroi.
The size and pattern of the radiator grille’s triangular motif are tightly controlled to show rich variations according to the viewing angle and how light lands upon it. The front styling conveys a refined yet bold personality. Mazda’s signature wing takes on a sharper and deeper form that combines with the solid and sculpted contours of the front bumper to achieve a face that is strongly suggestive of forward motion.
The rear fenders flaring out boldly from the tapered rear cabin combine with the liftgate’s correspondingly narrowed arch shape to create a sensuously powerful rear image. Its wide and dynamic sports car-like stance clearly expresses KODO design’s unique emotional appeal.
The headlamps and rear combination lamps adopt a sleek mechanical look which elaborate the cylindrical shape of the lighting halos when emphasised at night. To add to the aesthetic appeal of the Mazda CX-30, the newly developed LED turn signals lighting signature has dimming control functions which create a pleasing sense of overall system unity. For example, after instantly lighting to full brightness, the LED turn signals gradually dim as though leaving an afterglow. The pulsating beat and warmth conveyed by this blinking rhythm helps enhance Mazda’s unique expression of dynamic vitality.
The wheel design of Mazda CX-30 is available with a choice of 18-inch or 16-inch aluminum wheels. Both feature a tough expression of condensed strength near the center contrasted by spokes extending gracefully toward the rims.
A generous 740mm between the front seats (couple distance) is on par with that of the CX-5. This combines with the adoption of wide center and door armrests to provide a comfortable and relaxed seating posture between driver and passenger seats. The front and rear seats give more room to move and relax with expanded distance. This allows rear-seat passengers plenty of legroom, and the lowered floor and seat hip point make the rear seats comfortable, even for taller passengers.
The Mazda CX-30 cockpit is symmetrical and firmly centered on the driver seats, with all three meters in the meter cluster and the center display correctly angled towards the driving position, giving the driver an enhanced sense of unity with the vehicle and even easier operation.
The Mazda CX-30 adopts a cockpit design based on people’s subconscious awareness of spatial axes and ability to determine distance and speed when moving through a given space. For example, the belt line along the upper section of the door trim and lines of the floor console come close to tracing the path of the lane markers that can be seen through the window. The overall design makes the CX-30 easier to drive by enhancing drivers’ judgement of relative distance and speed.
A secondary wing-shaped dashboard hood that runs from the meter hood to the passenger side door trim forms a beautiful arc spanning the cabin.
The Mazda CX-30 also comprises the key features of the Mazda Harmonic Acoustics audio system. This is to provide a “high-quality quietness” to all cabin occupants and transmit only the necessary sounds to reach the ears in a natural and pleasing fashion. The cabin was specially designed to minimise noise and achieve a level of quality quietness within the cabin to deliver a more powerful acoustic experience that naturally locates the sound’s origin and delivers enhanced depth and clarity (NVH). Mazda has improved insulation performance without increasing weight by adopting a “two-wall” structure that leaves space between the floor carpeting and body panel beneath it, and between the door trim and inner panel to improve sound insulation performance. In addition, the amount of fiber material on the backside of the floor carpet was adjusted to match the specific location to achieve optimum density across the entire floor. Thorough efforts to eliminate the number of holes wherever possible, including those in the carpeting and for mounting speakers in the door panels, also help to improve sound insulation performance.
To add to this, customers of Mazda CX-30 will be immersed in the exceptional sound quality of Bose® sound system – a 12-speaker system that is integrated seamlessly throughout its posh interior. Bose’s Centerpoint®2 audio technology enables cabin occupants to enjoy the multi-channel surround sound experience.
The shift panel features an evolved version of Mazda’s ‘two-layer molding” technology originally developed for the new Mazda3. Light striking the upper layer’s deep smoke-gray panel reveals a metallic pattern engraved in the base layer below and its expression changes as the light moves to accentuate Mazda CX-30’s atmosphere of fine detailing and avant garde character.
The wide floor console groups the shift lever, cup holders and commander control forward in a ‘control area’ close to the driver for convenient operation, while the gently curved knee rests and arm rest behind create a warm and contrasting atmosphere.
The interior colours of the Mazda CX-30 are available in Rich Brown accents which resonate with chic and mature taste, and the Navy Blue-accented variation which appeals to a modern and intellectual sensibility.
Mazda aimed to endow the Mazda CX-30 with enhanced versatility as a compact crossover SUV to support an even wider range of lifestyles and provide customers with a rich and rewarding experience. The luggage capacity is spacious enough to simultaneously accommodate a baby stroller and another piece of luggage such as a carry-on bag, while the 1,020mm wide liftgate opening realises luggage space that is easy to use in any situation.
The Mazda CX-30 design goal for overall length was set at 4,400mm or less that makes it easy to handle in crowded city traffic, when driving on narrow roads, or when parallel parking.
To delve further into the interior design, the steering wheel’s 45mm tilt and 70mm telescopic range enables precise adjustment of the driving position. The steering wheel is also designed with a switching layout that combines the use of both toggles- and push-type switches. Cupholders are positioned in front of the gear shift lever, and there is a long armrest that provides the driver’s arm with greater stability when operating the commander control.
The CX-30 also features a sophisticated Human Machine Interface (HMI). The 7-inch TFT display in the center of the meter cluster presents a variety of information in a clear and straightforward way that facilitates instant recognition.
The Mazda Connect infotainment system of Mazda CX-30 has an 8.8-inch widescreen center display that can be operated simply by using the commander control. Compared to the previous iterations, there are significant improvements to the basic performance – the system boots up faster and renders map displays on screen more quickly. The image and audio quality have been improved through the digitisation of all the signals that are transmitted through the system. As the basic operations are consistent across all menus, the driver only needs to rotate the commander control to scroll and push to select. The navigation functions adopt advanced technologies such as an onboard 3D gyro sensor and the new One-Box Search function which allows drivers to search for destinations by simply inputting keywords.
The Mazda CX-30 opens up a fresh dimension of driving pleasure through the adoption of SKYACTIV-Vehicle Architecture, a set of new-generation structural technologies. The latest SKYACTIV engine lineup delivers exhilarating performance while the precisely coordinated control of G-Vectoring Control Plus (GVC+) provides a pleasant and confidence-inspiring driving experience, along with enhanced fuel economy and environmental friendliness. The seats adopt a basic structure designed to maintain the natural S-shaped curve of the spine. The seat cushion and lower seatback support the lower pelvis, upper pelvis and thighs to keep the pelvis in an upright position.
Mazda set out to achieve its human-centric philosophy to attain significant improvements in all aspects, be it design, driving performance, environmental friendliness and quality feel. The brake caliper design helps to ensure constant clearance between the brake pads and rotors at all times even after hard braking. This reduces rolling resistance while increasing control. As a result, the cabin occupants will be able to maximise their innate ability to maintain balance, and enjoy a comfortable driving experience.
The vehicle has also been designed to maximise the safety of every single passenger on board. The Mazda Proactive Safety philosophy guides all the company’s research and development efforts in safety performance. The driving advances in every area from safety fundamentals, such as the driving position, through passive safety technologies to advanced i-ACTIVSENSE features.
The Mazda CX-30’s i-ACTIVSENSE suite of safety technologies comprise the following features:
Driver Monitoring System (DMS): DMS uses both an infrared camera and LED to observe the driver’s condition while driving. It monitors how wide the driver’s eyes are open at any given time, the number of times he or she blinks, and also the angle of the mouth and face in order to determine the level of drowsiness or fatigue. If the system discerns a dangerous situation, it will sound an alert and prime the Smart Brake Support (SBS) system.
Front Cross Traffic Alert (FCTA): FCTA detects other vehicles approaching from blind spots at the front right or left of the vehicle; Tt alerts the driver of the danger with a visual display and a warning sound. It uses front side radars to monitor the left and right front diagonal areas that the driver cannot easily confirm by eye.
Cruising & Traffic Support (CTS): CTS helps to reduce driver fatigue by assisting with accelerator, brake pedal and steering operations when stuck in traffic jams on the highway. When active, CTS automatically adjusts the vehicle speed to maintain a proper trailing distance while following the vehicle ahead. It also assists with steering torque to make it easier to maintain proper lane position through bends.
The Mazda CX-30 Passive Safety Features are as follow:
Lightweight, high-rigidity body designed for safety: Comprising approximately 30 percent ultra-high-tensile steel rated 980 MPa or higher, and including strategic application of 1,310 MPa-class steel in certain areas. The advanced materials used in CX-30 combine with a new perimeter beam, newly designed B-pillars that are both stronger and lighter, and can withstand impact force (Frontal, Side and Rear), as well as a frame structure that effectively absorbs energy.
SRS airbag system: In addition to including front, curtain and front side airbags as standard equipment, the CX-30 is also equipped with a driver’s seat knee airbag as standard equipment in all markets. By suppressing the forward motion of the driver’s body in the event of a collision, the driver’s seat knee airbag contributes to fewer injuries to the driver’s legs, chest and abdomen.
Front seats designed to mitigate neck injuries: The amount the front seats overshoot when returning to their original position after impact is reduced by making the seats rigid and adopting a side frame designed to absorb energy.
Back seats designed to mitigate head and leg injuries: An energy-absorbing space between the hood and engine is designed to mitigate injury to a pedestrian’s head should it contact the hood in the event of an accident. To reduce the chance of injury to a pedestrian’s legs, the bumper adopts a plastic face with small ribs attached to the upper section along with a plastic lower stiffener positioned in front of the perimeter beam.
Seatbelts: The driver and front passenger seats are each equipped with a standard equipment pretensioner and load limiter that tightens the seatbelt the instant a collision is detected, and subsequently loosens it in a controlled manner.

The Mazda CX-8 is powered by the latest SKYACTIV-G 2.5 litre gasoline engine, and it is Mazda’s first new-generation model in Japan that features three rows of seating as well as the mature interpretation of Mazda’s Signature KODO – Soul of Motion design language which explores the essence of Japanese aesthetics while elevating car design to the level of fine art.
The development of this model is also in line with the spirit of Mazda Motor Corporation’s “Sustainable Zoom-Zoom 2030” long-term vision which delineates how Mazda will use driving pleasure – the fundamental appeal of the automobile – to help solve issues facing people, the earth and society.
Customers can now anticipate 3 seat configurations that cater to their needs. The third row folds down to provide the versatility of space to fit customers’ diverse needs and greater seating capacity for enhanced comfort on the road. The quietness in the third row of the Mazda CX-8 is achieved by applying the adhesive which bonds the glass to the liftgate in a different position that suppresses the sound resonance. The area and the number of layers of coating-type vibration-control material under the luggage-room floor were increased as well.
There was a further refinement of the suspension and steering system to achieve more linear vehicle behaviour and a higher-quality ride. The G-Vectoring Control Plus (GVC Plus) is an advanced version of G-Vectoring Control (GVC) with direct yaw moment control added for more stable vehicle behaviour at high speeds. When cornering, G-Vectoring Control Plus (GVC Plus) lightly applies brake force to the outer wheels as the steering wheel is returned to the center position, providing a recovery moment to restore the vehicle to straight-line running.
Indeed, the Mazda CX-8 achieves an even higher level of balance between linear response to driver input and ride comfort, through suspension refinements utilising Mazda’s latest research and advanced technologies.
The front-seat ventilation is adopted on models with leather upholstery. The ventilation system extracts hot air trapped between the occupant and the seat surfaces via tiny holes in the leather of the backrest and seat cushion.
The newly designed overhead console features a room lamp control switch to better optimise the light distribution, and in turn, renders a more refined quality to the interior. LED lamps are installed at both front and rear seats, the luggage room, the vanity mirror, and the glove box to achieve a unified appearance.
The Mazda CX-8 comes with a seven-inch TFT LCD display mounted in the center of the meter cluster as well as a more advanced version of the Mazda Connect which supports the Apple CarPlay™ in-car system and allows users to operate using iPhone™ or Android Auto™ applications.
The Mazda CX-8 puts safety at its heart with every safety innovation that Mazda has to offer. It features the full suite of Mazda’s i-ACTIVSENSE advanced safety technologies which are designed to recognise potential hazards. A day and night pedestrian detection have been added to the Advanced Smart City Braking Support (Advanced SCBS). The 360˚ View Monitor in conjunction with eight parking sensors at the front and rear detect proximity to obstacles and trigger an alarm when required.
Other safety features include Adaptive LED Headlights (ALH), Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM), Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA), Lane Departure Warning (LDWS), Lane-Keep Assist System (LAS) and Driver Attention Alert (DAA).
